Benefits Derived from the Explanation of the Hadith

The Shaykh : It is derived from this hadith the high rank of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in worship, where he praised his Lord with this great praise in this great detail, even though Allah had forgiven him what had passed of his sin and what was to come. It is also derived from it that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) had sins, based on his saying: Sunan Abi Dawud 1509Sahih (Al-Albani) And more explicit than that is the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He: [Al-Fath 48:1-3] And more explicit than that is: [Muhammad 47:19] And with this, the claim of those who say that the Prophet’s seeking forgiveness for his sin was seeking forgiveness for the sins of his Ummah and not for his own sin is refuted. We say, Glory be to Allah, are you more knowledgeable about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than the Messenger of Allah? I mean, are you more knowledgeable about the Messenger of Allah than the Messenger of Allah? No, you are not more knowledgeable. The Messenger of Allah is more knowledgeable about himself, and he says: Sunan Abi Dawud 878Sahih (Al-Albani) Then we say, how can this claim be consistent when Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Fath 48:2-3] So this set of descriptions belongs to one described person. Are these descriptions for the Ummah? And how can that be consistent when Allah the Exalted says: [Muhammad 47:19] How can this be consistent? But the difference between the Messenger and the Ummah regarding sin is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) does not persist in sin, whereas the Ummah persists in it. And the meaning of "persists" is by decree, not by legislation. As for legislation, no one persists in sin. But by decree, the Ummah persists in sin, whereas the Messenger does not persist. How does he not persist? Because it is necessary for him, peace and blessings be upon him, to either become aware or be made aware, so he seeks forgiveness. When a person seeks forgiveness after a sin, his state may be more complete than his state before committing the sin. The Ummah may persist in sin by both legislation and decree, whereas the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, does not persist; rather, either he becomes aware or Allah, Mighty and Majestic, makes him aware. And look at His saying, Exalted is He: [At-Tawbah 9:43] He began with forgiveness before mentioning the transgression. "Allah has forgiven you," and there is no forgiveness except for a sin. When [At-Tawbah 9:43] Glory be to Allah, this is instruction from Allah, Mighty and Majestic, teaching His Prophet. It is permissible for us not to rush to judge a matter until it becomes clear: [At-Tawbah 9:43] And this applies exactly to the opposite of our current state. Is it regarding it and its opposite? No, the action that occurred was from the Messenger regarding it, but the warning and discipline were regarding its opposite. That is, we now hear a word and then fly with it to the farthest horizons without clarifying it, and Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says to His Messenger: [At-Tawbah 9:43].
