The Reciter: Chapter: The saying of the Turner of Hearts and the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And We turn their hearts and their eyes ونقلب أفئدتهم وأبصارهم
.

The Shaykh : The Turner of Hearts is a description that is not valid except for Allah (Mighty and Majestic). He is the One who turns the hearts, for no human being, no matter who he is, can turn the heart of another. The meaning of turning the hearts is not physical turning, such as making the top of the heart the bottom, or moving its right side to the left side. The meaning of turning the hearts is turning perspectives. A person intends to do something, then Allah turns his intention to something else. He intends to do a bad deed, then Allah turns his heart to a good deed, or vice versa. It is mentioned that an Arab was asked, "By what did you know your Lord?" He said, "By the redirection of intentions." That is, Allah is the One who constantly redirects intentions. A person intends to do something and is determined to do it, but then his intention turns to something else without an apparent reason. Who redirected that? It is Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Therefore, the Turner of Hearts is Allah.
