The treaty-bound non-Muslim and the protected non-Muslim: Do they fall under the hadith (The Muslims are those from whom...)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : As for the non-Muslim, if he is a treaty-bound non-Muslim or a protected non-Muslim and he has safe conduct, he is also safe from our harm to him. This may constitute an acknowledgment of his being upon what he is upon?

The Shaykh : Yes, and we acknowledge him in this. We grant him safe conduct while he is upon his religion. Likewise, we make a treaty with them while they are upon their religion, and we establish the covenant of protection with them while they are upon their religion. In fact, we protect the People of the Covenant and ward off from them whoever harms them.

The questioner : And what about their gods?

The Shaykh : They cannot establish the rites of disbelief in the lands of Islam in the first place.

The questioner : Did he insult their gods?

The Shaykh : He did not insult them, if there is a fear that they will insult Allah.
