The attribute of a self is not befitting for Allah the Exalted, and some people explain this by saying that al-Samad is the One who has no interior.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: We said that the self, as it comes to mind, is not befitting for Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).

The Shaykh : No, not the self; the self with a fathah on the fa.
The student: We said that this is not befitting for Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has no interior?

The Shaykh : We did not say He has no interior.
The student: We said.

The Shaykh : We said He has no interior; we said al-Samad; we said al-Samad, and Allah, Abd al-Rahman ibn Jum'ah said it. But we mentioned previously that some of the Salaf interpreted it as the One who has no interior, and they explained this by saying that the one who has an interior needs to eat, drink, and breathe. And I think that delving to this extent is not appropriate. It should be said that al-Samad is the One who is perfect in His attributes, to whom all His creations turn for support.
