The Shaykh :"And the later scholars who claim affiliation with him adopted the second stage of the stages of his creed, and committed to the path of figurative interpretation in most of the attributes, and they did not affirm except the seven attributes mentioned in this verse:
Alive, All-Knowing, All-Powerful, and Speech is His *** Will, and likewise Hearing and Sight"
"Alive, All-Knowing, All-Powerful, and Speech is His *** Will, and likewise Hearing and Sight".
Even though they do not interpret Speech as the people of the Sunnah interpret it, for Speech with them is the meaning that subsists in the self. "This is in disagreement between them and the people of the Sunnah regarding the manner of affirming them. When Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned what was said regarding the condemnation of the Asha'irah on page 359 of the sixth volume of the Majmu' al-Fatawa of Ibn Qasim, he said: 'And their intention is the Asha'irah who deny the descriptive attributes. As for the one among them who holds to the book al-Ibanah, which al-Ash'ari composed at the end of his life, and no statement contradicting that has appeared from him, then he is considered from the people of the Sunnah.' This is the statement of Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him). And he also said before that on page 310: 'As for the Asha'irah, they are the opposite of these, and their statement necessitates denial of the divine attributes, and that there is nothing inside the world, nor outside of it, and His Speech is one meaning, and the meaning of the Verse of the Throne and the Verse of Faith, and the Torah, and the Gospel is one, and this is known to be corrupt by necessity.'"
