The Meaning of the Phrase "The Unlettered Prophet," Whether "Unlettered" Is a Description of Praise or Blame, and the Meaning of the Words of Allah, Which Are of Two Types: Cosmic and Legislative

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : So it is a description of praise for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), but for others? It is a description of deficiency. For this reason, the scholars said, "The imamate of an unlettered person is not valid", "The imamate of an unlettered person is not valid". If a person hears you say, "I seek refuge in Allah, what..." then the imamate of the Messenger is not valid. Yes, we say, other than the Messenger. The Messenger is unlettered, but he reads the Qur'an. And their meaning by "unlettered" is also the jurist who does not know how to read Surat al-Fatihah properly.
He said,
the unlettered prophet, who believes in Allah and His words النبي الأمي الذي يؤمن بالله وكلماته
[Al-A'raf 7:158]
(peace and blessings be upon him). Yes, he is the most intense of people in faith, the strongest of them in faith, and the most fearful of them of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). He believes in Allah and His words. "His words" is the plural of "word." Are His words cosmic or legislative?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Cosmic and legislative. As for the legislative words, they are what Allah revealed to the messengers, namely the revealed books. As for the cosmic words, they are what He (Exalted and Majestic is He) creates with,
His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is. إنما أمره إذا أراد شيئا أن يقول له كن فيكون
[Ya-Sin 36:82]
so every creation is created by the word, by the word. And there is no end to creation. Yes, so the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) believes in Allah and His words, so he believes in the Shari'ah and in the divine decree (peace and blessings be upon him). And so it is obligatory for every believer to believe in the Shari'ah of Allah and in the divine decree of Allah. Yes, good.
Then he said,
and follow him that you may be guided. واتبعوه لعلكم تهتدون
[Al-A'raf 7:158]
Follow whom? The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So he commanded belief in him and following him. So believe in Allah and His Messenger and follow him, meaning follow the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So belief in Allah and His Messenger, and following the Messenger. Yes, good. His saying,
Perhaps you will be guided. لعلكم تهتدون
What is the meaning of "perhaps" here?
The student: Its meaning is for the purpose of explanation.

The Shaykh : Explanation, meaning in order that you reach the ultimate goal of guidance. "Perhaps you will be guided." The point of this verse is His saying,
So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered prophet, who believes in Allah and His words فآمنوا بالله ورسوله النبي الأمي الذي يؤمن بالله وكلماته
[Al-A'raf 7:158]
What comes after?
And follow him. واتبعوه
So this is obligatory for every Muslim.
