Explanation of the author's statement: ". . . And as for the auditory evidence: among its proofs is the saying of Allah the Exalted"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And as for the auditory evidence" means the indication by auditory evidence of the obligation to follow what came in the Book and the Sunnah regarding the attributes of Allah. "Among its proofs is the saying of Allah the Exalted
And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them ولله الأسماء الحسنى فادعوه بها
[Al-A'raf 7:180]
"
Invoking Him by them, and what does this necessitate? It necessitates belief and affirmation. Belief and affirmation. So we affirm the beautiful names by virtue of this verse, and His saying
So call upon Him by them فادعوه بها
Invoking Allah the Exalted by His names... 'Abd al-Wahhab, 'Abd al-Wahhab, invoking Allah the Exalted by His names is divided into two categories:
The first is that you make them a means for what you invoke with. You make them a means for what you invoke with, so you say, "O Allah, O Forgiver, forgive me, and O Mighty, protect me from my enemies, and so on? And O Repentant, accept my repentance, and O Provider, provide for me." This is invoking by them, making them a means for what you invoke with. Yes, and it is known that if you make them a means for what you invoke with, you will seek nearness to Allah for every matter with the name that corresponds to it. You seek nearness for asking for provision with the name al-Razzaq (the Provider), and for asking for forgiveness with the name al-Ghafur (the Forgiver).
If someone were to say, "O Allah, O Severe in Retribution, forgive me," I seek refuge in Allah, is this permissible or not?
The student: It is not permissible.

The Shaykh : It is not permissible.
The student: It is not appropriate.

The Shaykh : What is appropriate for this, because if you were to say to a man, "O Miser, give me," he would slap you in the face and say, "This is the gift of the miser." It is subtle, my brother. So invoking by them means seeking nearness to Him, seeking nearness by them for what you invoke with. The scholars said, "And if he makes them a means for what he invokes with, he invokes for every matter with the name that corresponds to it, with the name that corresponds to it"
Now, if you want to ask Allah to teach you
The student: O All-Knowing, teach me.

The Shaykh : O All-Knowing, teach me, or O Teacher, teach me? "Al-Mu'allim" (The Teacher) is not among the names of Allah. "Al-Mu'allim" is not among the names of Allah. So it is permissible for us to ask Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, for knowledge by what indicates generosity and bounty, so we say, "O Allah, O Generous, teach me," or "Be generous to me with knowledge," or the like. Yes.
As for what 'Abd al-Wahhab intended to ask about, and even if there was negligence in it, His saying, the Exalted,
And Allah teaches you ويعلمكم الله
This is an attribute, and a name is not derived from the verb. The names, an attribute from which a name is not derived. For this reason, if someone were to say, "I named myself al-Makir (the Deceiver) because Allah said
But they plan, and Allah plans ويمكرون ويمكر الله
[Al-Anfal 8:30]
We said, it is not permissible. Yes, and I wish you would pay attention...

The questioner :
And fear Allah. And Allah teaches you واتقوا الله ويعلمكم الله
[Al-Baqarah 2:282]
