The reader: "The first: The generality of the whole for its parts in entities, actions, and attributes, as in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
So wash your faces فاغسلوا وجوهكم
The name 'face' encompasses the cheek, the forehead, the brow, and the like. Each of these parts is not the face itself. Therefore, if one washes some of these parts, he has not washed the face, because the named thing is negated by the negation of its part.
Likewise, in attributes and actions, if it is said: 'Pray,' and he prays one unit and leaves without the closing salam, or if it is said: 'Fast,' and he fasts part of the day, he has not complied, because the meaning of absolute prayer and absolute fasting is negated. Similarly, if it is said: 'Honor this man,' and he feeds him and strikes him, he has not complied, because absolute honor necessitates doing what pleases him and leaving what upsets him.
When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

It is not said: If he differs in something, then difference has occurred, just as it is not said: If he agrees with him in something, then agreement has occurred. The secret of that difference between the concept of "

The Shaykh : The author (may Allah have mercy on him) intended that the saying of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Jews do not dye, so differ from them إن اليهود لا يصبغون فخالفوهم
is not limited to differing from them only in dyeing, but the difference is general. If he differed from them in dyeing by dyeing, but agreed with them in something else, it would not be true that he differed from them, because absolute difference must necessarily encompass all its parts in every thing. This is what Taki (may Allah have mercy on him) intended, and there is some difficulty in his wording.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : Yes. The Shaykh considers it a verbal similarity, and therefore he did not establish a ruling based on it. That is, whether we say that the verbal noun is the origin of the action, or the action is the origin of the verbal noun, there is no benefit in it.
