Ruling on the one who says to his wife: Divorced, divorced, divorced
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: From 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Baz, to the honorable brother, A. M. G., may Allah guide him, amen.
Peace be upon you, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. After that:
Your noble letter, dated 5/3/1392 AH, reached us, may Allah guide you, and I have reviewed the attached report detailing the divorce pronounced by the husband, M. H. K., upon his wife. It became clear from this that the aforementioned man divorced her with three divorces, then said: "Divorced. Divorced. Divorced." Then he wrote the divorce for her with three divorces at his uncle's place.
When he was asked about this orally, he confirmed what was stated and admitted that he said to his neighbor: "Divorced. Divorced. Divorced." with three divorces.
Answer: Based on all that has been mentioned, I informed him that the aforementioned divorce necessitates her separation from him and her prohibition to him until she marries another husband; because he repeated it three times.
So I hope you will inform her father of this, and I ask Allah to make what is good in reality, and to replace each of them with something better than their partner.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
Addition: And we informed the husband that divorcing with three divorces is not permissible, and that he must repent from that.
