Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 3496 )
Q: Is it permissible for a divorcing husband to sit with his ex-wife, given that the divorced woman has children from him and they live with their mother, and their father goes to visit his children and check on them? When he visits, is it permissible for his ex-wife to sit with her ex-husband in the same room in the presence of their children?
A: When a woman is divorced, whether the divorce is final or revocable, and she has completed her waiting period, she becomes, with regard to him, like any other non-mahram man. It is not permissible for him to be alone with her, but it is not forbidden for him to speak to her, nor to meet her in a place in the presence of her mahram. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
