Reading from the author's text with commentary: "Then we say: Suppose that sufficiency is achieved by what is called opposition

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "Then we say: Suppose that sufficiency is achieved by what is called opposition, but increasing beyond the sufficient amount is prescribed, if the command is absolute, as in His saying:
Bow down and prostrate اركعوا واسجدوا
and the like of absolute commands.
The third aspect: In the principle of the report, it is necessary that the command deviating from the specific term of the action to a term broader in meaning, such as its deviation from the term: 'Feed him' to the term: 'Honor him,' and from the term: 'Dye them' to the term: 'Oppose them,' must have a benefit. Otherwise, matching the term to the meaning is preferable to using the general term while intending the specific. And there is no benefit apparent here except that the intention is attached to that general meaning which includes this specific, and this is clear upon reflection"
.

The Shaykh : This is also clear, like if I said: If a guest comes to you, feed him. This is feeding. So if I said, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded honoring the guest, then here it implies that my saying 'feed him' does not intend the exclusivity of feeding, but rather what is called honoring, and my mention of feeding is only by way of example. Accordingly, if you spread out his bedding and make it comfortable, and bring him what warms him in winter and cools him in summer, it falls within what I commanded you to do, even if the term was only about feeding.
