The Shaykh :"And from him (may Allah be pleased with him)": "From him" means from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him).
"He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 2460Sahih (Al-Albani) ": When one is invited, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not specify what he was invited to, and on this basis, it is general, meaning: not restricted to the invitation to a wedding feast.
And his saying: means: let him respond to the inviter. The lam here is for command, and it was sukun (unvoweled) because the rule is: "that the lam of command, when it comes after the fa, waw, and thum, is sukun, and in everything else it is kasrah (voweled with a). As for the lam of purpose, it is always kasrah, even if it comes after the waw, thum, and fa": Allah the Exalted said: [Al-'Ankabut 29:66], and it is not permissible to say: "wa liyamtai'u" (and let them enjoy), because the lam in His saying: is for purpose. If it were for command, it would have been sukun. Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Hajj 22:15].
And He said the Exalted:[Al-Hajj 22:29] Here he said "fa liyajib" (so let him respond) according to the rule.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 780Sahih (Darussalam): If he is fasting, meaning the invitee, let him pray, meaning: let him make a supplication.
"He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When one of you receives an invitation (for a meal), he should accept it.
إذا دعي أحدكم فليجبAnd his saying:
Let him respond
