The second question of Fatwa No. ( 18771 )
Q2: When a person is fasting, and his brother invites him to eat while he is fasting, is he able to eat at that invitation and break his fast ?
A2: It is not permissible to break an obligatory fast. As for voluntary fasting, the Muslim has the choice: if he wishes, he may complete it, and if he wishes, he may break it, though completing it is better. It is authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:Sahih Muslim 1431 , and in another wording from him (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
