The Shaykh says in response to the honorable listeners: I hope to resolve my problem and my commitments to my relatives and friends. I intend to perform Hajj this year, and when I informed them, they entrusted me with many trusts and asked me for favors that were simple but numerous, and I am unable to fulfill them all. I have taken on these trusts for them, which include a group of people for whom I promised to perform seven tawafs for each one.

The questioner : This is also a letter regarding Hajj that we received from Qasim Muhammad Qasim. He says: The Shaykh says in response to the honorable listeners: I hope to resolve my problem and my commitments to my relatives and friends. I intend to perform Hajj this year, and when I informed them, they entrusted me with many trusts and asked me for favors that were simple but numerous, and I am unable to fulfill them all. I have taken on these trusts for them, which include a group of people for whom I promised to perform seven tawafs for each one.

The Shaykh : Seven?

The questioner : Yes, he says seven.

The Shaykh : Yes, very well.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : We say...

The questioner : It is, of course, the number of requests, but we will address each request...

The Shaykh : That does not contradict [the ruling].

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : He is not obligated to do this, even if they instructed him to do so or if he committed to it for them, because the scholars have differed on whether this benefits the one for whom it is performed.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Whether the reward reaches him or not. Furthermore, during the peak seasons, doing so contradicts the Sunnah, for the Sunnah is that a person should not increase beyond the tawafs of the rites during the Hajj season, which are the tawaf upon arrival, the tawaf of ifadah, and the tawaf of farewell.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And the tawafs he committed to performing necessitate a contradiction of the Sunnah. Therefore, we say that there is no blame on you if you do not fulfill these wills that they instructed you to perform.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.
