Explanation of the Book of Prayer-07

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"And from Umm Salimah (may Allah be pleased with her)
She asked the Prophet (ﷺ), "Can a woman pray in a long dress and a veil without wearing a lower garment?" He replied, "If the long dress is ample and covers the surface of her feet." أنها سألت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أتصلي المرأة في درع وخمار بغير إزار ؟ قال : إذا كان الدرع سابغا يغطي ظهور قدميها
Bulugh al-Maram 2:73
. Abu Dawud narrated it, and the scholars authenticated its status as a mawquf report"
His statement:
Does a woman pray? أتصلي المرأة ؟
The question here is for seeking information and inquiry
In a thobe and a head covering في درع وخمار
The thobe is a garment resembling a shirt, and it is called a thobe because it resembles the armor worn by a warrior to protect against arrows, and the khimar is what covers the head and neck
Without a waist wrapper بغير إزار
It is what a person wears as a waist wrapper to cover the lower part of his body, so he said:
Umm Salamah said that she asked the prophet (ﷺ); Can a woman pray in a shirt and veil without wearing a lower garment? He replied: if the shirt is ample and covers the surface of her feet. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted by Malik b. Anas, Bakr b. Mudar, Hafs b. Ghiyaht, Isma'il b. Ja'far, Ibn Abu Dhi'b, and Ibn Ishaq from Muhammad b. Zaid on the authority of his mother who narrated from Umm Salamah. None of these narrators mention the name of the Prophet (ﷺ). They reported it directly from Umm Salamah. إذا كان الدرع سابغًا
Sunan Abi Dawud 640Da'if (Al-Albani)
"Sābig" means complete and full, then he explained it by saying:
To cover the backs of her feet يغطي ظهور قدميها
Meaning there is no harm in this hadith. The author says: "Abu Dawud narrated it, and the scholars authenticated its status as a mawquf report" "Mawquf" means attributing it to the words of Umm Salimah (may Allah be pleased with her). So is it said that this mawquf report has the ruling of a marfu' report because such a thing is not said by opinion? Or is it said that it is mawquf and does not have the ruling of a marfu' report because it may be said by opinion? Perhaps she (may Allah be pleased with her) saw that part of completing the adornment is that her thobe be long enough to cover the backs of her feet. The difference between a mawquf and a marfu' report is: what is attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is marfu', what is attributed to a Companion is mawquf, and what is attributed to a Successor or anyone after him is maqtu'. Good.
