The questioner : He also has another question, saying that many, and a great many, of the young men do not perform the prayer at all, and when we joke, or a person jokes, with any one of them and guides him, he gets angry and says, "This is not your business." We ask you to guide us, or guide them, to what is in their best interest, and may Allah guide you?
The Shaykh : As for guiding you, we say: let this be your constant practice in advising your sons and young men. If they stop [their neglect] and do what is obligatory upon them, which is performing the prayer, that is for your benefit and theirs. If they do not do it, that is for your benefit and a burden upon them. But you must inform the authorities of what has happened and that these young men do not pray, so that the authorities do what is obligatory upon them, which is calling these young men to prayer. If they refuse, then they are to be killed for disbelief, may Allah protect us from that.
The questioner : We seek refuge in Allah.
The Shaykh : Because the one who does not pray is a disbeliever who has apostatized from Islam; he is not among the Muslims, neither in this world nor in the Hereafter. We ask Allah for safety.
The questioner : We seek refuge in Allah.
The Shaykh : As for my advice to these young men, I say to them: you are the youth of Islam and the men of the future. If you do not uphold the pillar of Islam, which is the prayer, then you are even further from upholding what is besides it. My advice to them is to adhere to what Allah has made obligatory upon them, which is performing the prayer at its times and performing it in congregation. If they accustom themselves to this act, it will become easy for them. Indeed, if they accustom themselves to this act, it will become easy for them, and all righteous deeds will become easy for them, because Allah says:[Al-Baqarah 2:153] and He the Exalted says: [Al-'Ankabut 29:45] So if they do that, they will establish the prayer, and the remaining righteous deeds will become easy for them, and Allah will expand their chests with Islam, and Allah will illuminate their hearts and their faces. But if they persist in that, they will find the prayer heavy, and the remaining righteous deeds behind it, and at that time they will lose in their religion and their worldly life.
The questioner : Yes.
The Shaykh : We also say to them: what does the prayer consume of your time? The prayer, with its purification and going to it, takes up an hour and a quarter of time, or at most an hour and a half of time. An hour and a half of time is one-eighth of the time. You find a person getting up with his friend and companion, standing and talking with him, and perhaps that is in the scorching cold or the intense heat of the sun, and he stays with him for an hour or more, talking, and he does not care about it.
The questioner : Yes.
The Shaykh : So why does he do this with the sons of Adam, and then does not stand to converse with Allah the Exalted in his prayer for this brief period?
The questioner : Yes, may Allah reward you.
Dear listeners, we have reached the end of this session, in which we presented the messages of the honorable Muhammad Shabily Musa al-Shahri from Dammam, the citizen Abd al-Rahman Majrud 'Uwaid al-Shalali, and the child Abd al-Rahman from al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, who asks about his enthusiasm for building mosques, and 'Umar Muhammad al-Shahri.
We presented these questions and inquiries that came in their messages to Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, professor at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in al-Qasim, and imam and khatib of the Grand Mosque in the city of 'Unayzah.
Thank you to Shaykh Muhammad, and thank you to you, gentlemen. Until we meet with your presence, if Allah wills, we entrust you to Allah, and peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
