Discussion of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “But if you do not know their fathers, then they are your brothers in religion and your clients”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And what is its grammatical analysis?
then they are [still] your brothers in religion فَإِنْ لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا آبَاءَهُمْ فَإِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدّيْن
[Al-Ahzab 33:5]
and similarly
But if you do not - and you will never be able to - فَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا وَلَنْ تَفْعَلُوا
[al-Baqarah: 24]. Who knows? Yes, Muhammad.
The student: ... By what is it in the genitive case?

The Shaykh : All right, analyze it according to both views? Or shall we say that
do it تَفْعَلُوا
is in the jussive case in form due to *lam* and in position due to *in*, meaning that *fa in lam ta'lamu* means *fa in jahiltum* (if you were ignorant of) their fathers, so it is in the position of a past tense verb. Your question, O 'Abd al-'Aziz?
The student: ... The preference from the aspect of the message or the prophethood; a person should not mention this, and rather, if preference is mentioned, it should be from the aspect of the qualities that are in the prophets regarding resolve and patience, so I do not know...?

The Shaykh : Yes, he said that perhaps their intention is that they fear that the one being preferred over may cause a person to feel a deficiency in him, and for this reason the Messenger prohibited preferring them, saying:
Do not prefer one prophet over another. لا تفضلوا بين الأنبياء
So if there is, for example, a prohibition, he avoids it, but if he wants to clarify the extent of their strength in conveying the call, their patience with it, the large number of their followers, and what Allah chose them for, then Allah the Mighty and Majestic has explicitly stated that, saying:
Those messengers - some of them We caused to exceed others. تِلْكَ الرُّسُلُ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ
[al-Baqarah: 253]
And We have made some of the prophets exceed others وَلَقَدْ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَ النَّبِيِّينَ عَلَى بَعْضٍ
[al-Isra: 55]. Yes.
and We took from them a solemn covenant. وَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُمْ مِيثَاقًا غَلِيظًا
[An-Nisa 4:154]
