Continuation of the explanation of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah, you have an excellent example”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And His saying:
an excellent example أسوة حسنة
The author said: “Following him in fighting and standing firm in its places” There is a point of consideration regarding this explanation by the author (may Allah have mercy on him). What is the point of consideration? It is that he restricted it to fighting, whereas in reality, he is an excellent example in everything he does. In whatever is part of his Sunnah, we have an excellent example in him. And his saying:
an excellent example أسوة حسنة
in it, there are two meanings:
The first meaning: That following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in all things is good, because he (peace and blessings be upon him) is protected from error in legislation. Therefore, any following of him is good, unlike following others, which may be good or may not be good.
The second meaning: An excellent example in terms of our following him, not in terms of what he is upon. The excellent example in terms of our following him is that we agree with him in speech, action, and intention, which is creed. We agree with him in these three matters: creed, speech, and action. This is the excellent example. Whoever agrees with him in his speech but not his action has not followed him with an excellent example. Whoever agrees with him in his action but not his speech has not followed him with an excellent example. And whoever follows him in his speech and action but not his creed and intention has not followed him with an excellent example. Calling to the religion of Allah is included in the excellent example, for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) undoubtedly calls to the religion of Allah.
Say, "This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight, I and those who follow me. قُلْ هَذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ عَلَى بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي
[Yusuf: 108] And through this, we know that it is necessary for the student of knowledge to be active in his community, not just a copy of a book. By this, I mean that he should be a mover of people’s consciences and feelings, guiding them, and he should have determination in reforming people so that he does not become merely a copy, merely a copy. And what is the benefit of that? He says, “By Allah, I memorized al-Zad, and I memorized Bulugh al-Maram, and I memorized al-Muntaqa, and the like of that.” But what is the action, and what is the benefit? Or you say, “I sit in my house; if someone comes to ask me, I teach them, otherwise, nothing.” No, it is not obligatory? We must spread awareness among the Muslims, especially in this time, in our era, because people have started to move. They are tired of the previous life and are moving now, but they need a beginning and guidance, because they may move toward something bad. When the students of knowledge, whom Allah has granted knowledge, took over the guidance of people in these matters, much good occurred, just as our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do. The excellent example in the Messenger includes calling to the religion of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. He said:
for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day لِمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الآخِرَ
[Al-Ahzab 33:21]
“Excellent” in itself and in its application in itself. By this, I mean that following him is good, and it is not possible that any of his actions (peace and blessings be upon him) would not be described as excellent. And it is excellent in the application of this following through creed, speech, and action.
