We said, O Shaykh, that Islam and faith, when they come together, they differ.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The student: We said that Islam and faith, when they come together, this implies... according to our statement... that if they perform the outward things, Allah will prepare that for them.

The Shaykh : If they do not have faith, they are not truly Muslims.
The student: ...the term Islam?

The Shaykh : Outwardly only, but in the reward of the Hereafter, they do not enter into this, because the Hereafter is judged by what is in the hearts, as Allah the Exalted said:
The Day when secrets will be put on trial, يَوْمَ تُبْلَى السَّرَائِرُ
[Al-Tariq: 9]. So we say that these people, even if they are Muslims in this world and are treated as Muslims, in the reward of the Hereafter, if their Islam is not built upon faith, it will not benefit them.
