The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “Have they not looked at what is before them and what is behind them of the sky and the earth? If We will, We will sink them into the earth, or We will cause pieces to fall upon them from the sky. Indeed, in that is a sign for every servant who turns back [to Us]”

Among the benefits of this verse is the obligation to look and take heed in the signs that have occurred in the sky and the earth, because of His saying , for this interrogative is for rebuke, and one is not rebuked except for neglecting an obligatory duty.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that there are signs in the heavens and the earth, but for whom? For the servant who turns back to Allah. As for the one who does not desire to turn back to his Lord, even if he sees them, looks at them, and thinks about them, he will not benefit.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is the affirmation of the will of Allah, because of His saying .
And among the benefits of the noble verse is also that what occurs of sinking, earthquakes, and calamities is by the permission of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) as a punishment for the servants and a lesson, contrary to those who say that these are natural matters that do not indicate the anger of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) nor His warning, as is the view of those who do not believe in Allah. The sinking of the earth is a punishment, and what comes of lightning and horizontal disasters is also a punishment. For this reason, He said .
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that Allah the Exalted is encompassing of the servants, and they cannot escape from His decree and divine decree. Pay attention, my brother, what is your name? Yes, do not be looking at people; every time someone comes, you look at them. Yes, keep your looking for your studies. Good. That Allah the Exalted is encompassing of everything, and there is no escape for the servants from Him, because of His saying . And among the benefits of the noble verse is that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) bestows upon the servant the manifestation of signs to him so that the truth becomes clear to him, because of His saying . And when Allah bestows upon the servant the looking into His signs and reflection, his faith in Allah (Mighty and Majestic) increases thereby, and his faith in what these signs necessitate of His attributes increases. For every sign indicates a specific attribute of the attributes of Allah. Thus, the sending down of rain indicates power, knowledge, and mercy, and its being at an appropriate time indicates wisdom. Everything that occurs in the heavens and the earth indicates an attribute of the attributes of Allah the Exalted that is appropriate to it.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that there are great signs in the sky and the earth for whoever looks and reflects, and this is what Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) affirmed in the Qur'an in many places: [Surat al-Dhariyat: 20] [Surat al-Ra'd: 4]. And the signs in this meaning are such that whoever reflects on what is in the sky, what is in the earth, and what is between them, it becomes clear to him of the signs of Allah what strengthens his faith and increases his hope in the favor of Allah the Exalted and his fear of His punishment.
