Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And We placed between them and the towns in which We blessed, towns that are apparent, and We measured the travel therein; travel therein nights and days”

But what happened? They did not have patience with this blessing, may Allah protect us from that.
But [insolently] they said, "Our Lord, lengthen the distance between our journeys," فَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا بَاعِدْ بَيْنَ أَسْفَارِنَا
[Saba 34:19]
This is similar to the statement of the people of Moses to him:
we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions. لَنْ نَصْبِرَ عَلَى طَعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ فَادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنْبِتُ الأَرْضُ مِنْ بَقْلِهَا وَقِثَّائِهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَا
[al-Baqarah:61] whereas at first they were eating comfortably from the manna and the quail, with no toil and good food, but these people did not have patience with it. The people of Saba did not have patience with this blessing, which is among the best blessings in travel.
