The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “Say: Show me those you have associated as partners with Him. No! Rather, it is Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Then Allah the Exalted said:
Say, "Show me those whom you have attached to Him as partners. No! Rather, He [alone] is Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise."
[Saba 34:27]
In this is what was mentioned previously regarding the etiquette of debate: the practice of issuing a challenge in something known to be impossible for the opponent. Because if you challenge him to something he cannot do and his inability becomes apparent, the falsity of his claim is revealed. This is unlike challenging him to something he is capable of doing, for that would be a harm to you. Do not challenge your opponent except to something that, what? That incapacitates him and he is unable to accomplish. Here He says:
Show me those whom you have attached to Him as partners
[Saba 34:27]
meaning, inform me what they created? What benefit did they provide? They did not create anything, nor did they provide any benefit, nor did they avert any harm, as Allah the Exalted said:
(20) And those they invoke other than Allah create nothing, and they [themselves] are created. (21) They are, [in fact], dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.
[Al-Nahl: 21]. And Ibrahim said to his father:
O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all?
[Maryam: 42]. Good. And His saying:
Show me those whom you have attached to Him as partners
[Saba 34:27]
From this it is derived that shirk (associating partners with Allah) occurs in worship just as it occurs in creation and management. In other words, shirk occurs in tawhid al-uluhiyyah (oneness of worship) just as it occurs in tawhid al-rububiyyah (oneness of lordship). The point is that these polytheists were not associating partners with Allah in lordship, but they associated partners with Him in worship and divinity. Yes.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that it is impossible for anyone to show that these idols have any share in creation, provision, or management. This is derived from His saying:
No! كلا
meaning, it is not possible for you to show me anything of these idols.
And among the benefits of the verse is also the affirmation of two of the names of Allah, namely al-Aziz (the Mighty) and al-Hakim (the Wise), and the attributes they encompass, which are might (al-‘izzah) and wisdom (al-hikmah). The two names, al-Aziz and al-Hakim, and the attributes they encompass, which are might, wisdom, and judgment (al-hukm). Might means wisdom, we said, by what? By judgment and wisdom.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that the actions of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, cannot occur in vain, due to His saying:
The Wise
The Wise is the One in whose actions there is no foolishness. This is something known by necessity. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
And We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them in play.
[Al-Anbiya: 16]. And He said:
And We did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve
[Sad: 27]. And He the Exalted said:
Then did you think that We created you uselessly and that to Us you would not be returned?"
[Al-Mu’minun: 115].
And among its benefits is also that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, cannot be overcome, due to His saying:
the Mighty العزيز
And if you believe in that and seek help through Him, Blessed and Exalted is He, you will know that you will not be overcome.
Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said after this, which is the beginning of today's lesson:
And We did not send you
Yes, we mentioned that the author (may Allah have mercy on him) explained in his exalted tafsir... and in his statement
The Wise
: "in His management of His creation", he also erred; he erred in his statement: "so He has no partner in His dominion", because the point here is not denying a partner in dominion, but rather denying a partner in worship, since these polytheists acknowledge that Allah has no partner in His dominion.
