Those who were oppressed will say to those who were arrogant, "Rather, [it was your] conspiracy of night
[Saba 34:33]
is an incitement to their negation, and therefore He said:
Rather, you were criminals."
[Saba 34:32]
A negation regarding what? Regarding their saying:
If not for you, we would have been believers."
[Saba 34:31]
Then these people negated them, meaning they responded to them with another negation, saying:
Rather, [it was your] conspiracy of night and day
[Saba 34:33]
meaning, what plotting of yours was there against us in them?
conspiracy of night and day
[Saba 34:33]
Here, the plotting is attributed to the night with the implied preposition "in," because attribution can be based on the implied preposition "from," or on the implied preposition "to," or on the implied preposition "in." If the first is from the second, meaning if the second is a genus of the first, then if the second is a genus of the first, it is based on the implied preposition "from." And if the second is a circumstance for the first, it is based on the implied preposition "in." And everything else is based on the implied preposition "to." Do you understand the distinction now? The attribution is based on the implied preposition "from" if the second is a genus of the first, and on the implied preposition "in" if the second is [a circumstance], and on the implied preposition "to" in everything else. If you say: "The ring of the hadith" is based on the implied preposition "from," or "a cloth of cotton" is based on the implied preposition "from," or "a perfume," then in "the plotting of the night," it means plotting in the night. What is the plotting? They said in defining plotting: it is reaching by hidden means to the downfall of the opponent. This plotting is reaching by hidden means to the downfall of the opponent, meaning the one who opposed you, or if you wish, you can say the adversary. So, O Isa, know... The plotting of the night is attributed here to the night because it is a circumstance.
