The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And the Day He will gather them all, then He will say to the angels, ‘Were these the ones who used to worship you?’”

Then He, Mighty and Majestic, said: [Saba 34:40] It is derived from this noble verse that it is recommended to remind people of the Day of Resurrection. The mode of indication is that is connected to an omitted word, estimated to be “Remember the Day He will gather them.” Does this include reminding oneself, meaning that when one’s soul reaches a certain point, one should remind it of the Day of Gathering and the Day of Death, or not? Yes, it includes it, because the estimated word “Remember” allows for the meaning to be “Remember this Day within yourself” or “Remind others of this Day,” and both are true. A person should remind himself of his end whenever he leans toward the worldly life and desires to immerse himself in it; he should remind it of the Day of transition from this worldly life, and remind it of people who have transitioned from this worldly life who were stronger than him in power and possessed more wealth and children. Then he should remind it of what lies beyond that, namely the Reckoning and the punishment, which is the Witnessed Day on which people are gathered for him.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is: establishing the Resurrection, based on His saying:[Al-An'am 6:128].
And among the benefits of this noble verse is also: that the gathering is general for everyone, even those who were eaten by beasts or burned by fires. Where is this taken from? From His saying: And it is so. Therefore, the one who was eaten by beasts or burned by fires must be gathered on the Day of Resurrection, as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Anbiya: 104].
And among the benefits of this noble verse is: establishing speech for Allah. And this, meaning the establishment of speech and talk for Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is the doctrine of the people of the Sunnah and the community, the doctrine of the Asha'irah, and the doctrine of the Mu'tazilah. Yes, but they differ in interpreting this speech. So, speech according to the people of the Sunnah and the community is real speech with letters and audible sounds, and it is not created. And speech according to the Mu'tazilah is speech with letters and audible sounds, but it is not among the attributes of Allah; rather, it is created in their view. They say: “Indeed, Allah the Exalted creates speech and attributes it to Himself by way of honor and magnification, like attributing the House to Him, attributing the mosques to Him, attributing the she-camel to Him, attributing the souls to Him, and the like”. And the Asha'irah affirm speech for Allah, but they say that it is without letters and without audible sounds, but rather it is the meaning subsisting in Himself. And what is heard, which Moses heard and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) heard, and which people will hear on the Day of Resurrection, these are sounds that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, creates to express Himself, and they are not the speech of Allah, but rather an expression... As for the people of the Sunnah and the community, they say: The speech of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, is real speech with letters and audible sound, but this sound does not resemble the sounds of the created beings, because it is from the speech of Allah, and His speech is an attribute among His attributes that does not resemble the attributes of the created beings. Good.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is: rebuking those polytheists and reprimanding them by asking those they called gods, so that they may show their disavowal of them, based on His saying:[Saba 34:40]
And [mention] the Day when He will gather them all and then say to the angels, "Did these [people] used to worship you?"
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ يَقُولُ لِلْمَلائِكَةِ أَهَؤُلاءِ إِيَّاكُمْ كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَThe Day He will gather them

And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day when He will gather them together
ويوم يحشرهم جميعاًAnd among the benefits of this noble verse is also: that the gathering is general for everyone, even those who were eaten by beasts or burned by fires. Where is this taken from? From His saying:
