Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Therefore, the author said the pronoun is ambiguous and is explained by the shout. He says: "It" is a pronoun referring back to the news, meaning that the shout for their resurrection is only a single shout. Good. And what the author assumed as the referent of the pronoun is correct, so the referent of the pronoun is now the news. Some said: "Then it is only" meaning the resurrection that they are raised by, meaning they were not raised except by a single shout, meaning by a single shout. But what the author assumed is more appropriate: "Then it is only a single shout." The author said: "Meaning a call by which they are driven out." It is said to them: "Come out," meaning from the graves. If I say "Come out of the graves," they come out like a single man, with none of them lagging behind. Do they come out slowly? The answer is no, due to the saying of the Exalted:
And Our command is but one, like a glance of the eye. وما أمرنا إلا واحدة كلمح بالبصر
[Al-Qamar 54:50]
The issue does not require a repeated request or exit, nor a delay in time, but as soon as it is said "Come out," they are up, looking. This is part of the perfection of the power of the Lord, Mighty and Majestic.
It will be only one shout فإنما هي زجرة واحدة
[As-Saffat 37:19]
Meaning a single call by which they are driven out.
Then they are فإذا هم
Meaning the creation are alive.
Looking ينظرون
At what is done to them. The "fa" is a conjunction, and "idha" is sudden, meaning "so immediately, suddenly, they are looking." Regarding the sudden "idha," grammarians differed on whether it is a particle, in which case it has no grammatical position, or an adverb. It does not concern us whether it is considered a particle or an adverb; the important thing is to know the meaning, which is that it indicates suddenness, meaning it comes quickly. And his saying
and at once they will be observing. فإذا هم ينظرون
[As-Saffat 37:19]
indicates that as soon as they come out, they are alive and aware, not like a child who comes out of his mother's womb knowing nothing. People in this world come out of their mothers' wombs knowing nothing, but then Allah gives them hearing, sight, and hearts. Hearing by which they hear and know, otherwise hearing exists from creation. Their sight is likewise, by which they see and know.
Therefore, you find that a child, when first born, does not pay attention to anything. A lamp, the brightest of lamps, passes by him and he does not know what it is. Then, little by little, he begins to know colors when they differ for him, and he follows with his gaze. But those who are raised from the graves are not waited for in this way, meaning their hearing, sight, and hearts are not developed little by little. But as soon as they come out, they are looking. The author said: "Then they," meaning the creation, are alive, looking at what is done to them. If someone asks: The author said "or the creation," although the context of the verses requires that the intended meaning is these deniers
"When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? (48) And our forefathers [as well]?" أئذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظاما أإنا لمبعوثون أوآباؤنا الأولون
[Al-Waqi'ah 56:47-48]
. If we take the context, we say the pronoun refers to these people and their fathers. If we look at reality, we say the pronoun refers to all the creation. The reality is that all the creation come out with this shout.
and at once they will be observing. فإذا هم ينظرون
[As-Saffat 37:19]
The author benefited us with his saying "what is done to them" by informing us that the looking here is looking with the eye, not in the sense of waiting, although the verse allows the meaning to be looking with the eye, or the meaning to be looking with the eye, and the meaning to be waiting. "Looking" comes to mean waiting, as in the saying of the Exalted:
Then do they await except that the Hour should come upon them unexpectedly فهل ينظرون إلا الساعة أن تأتيهم بغتة
[Muhammad 47:18]
"looking" means "waiting."
