The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((And indeed, most of the former generations have gone astray before them. And indeed, We sent among them warners. So look at how was the end of the warners.))
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And in His saying, the Exalted, [As-Saffat 37:71] there is evidence that most of the previous nations went astray, and that is indeed the case, and it has passed before us
And among its benefits is the consolation of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by mentioning the similarity of those who lied to him, for a person finds comfort and takes example from the misfortunes of others.
And among the benefits of the verse is the care of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) for His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), in that He provided him with examples that consoled him, for a person’s joy in the state of others eases the matter for him and increases his strength and drive in what he calls to.
And among its benefits is the warning of these liars to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that they will be afflicted with what afflicted the previous nations. And in His saying, the Exalted, there is evidence that Allah the Exalted established the proof against every nation. He said, “And indeed, We sent among them, meaning among the former ones, warners.” And this is supported by His saying, the Exalted, [Fatir 35:24] so the proof was established against every town.
It is also derived from the verse that there is no proof against one to whom the message did not reach, because the warning did not reach him, and that is indeed the case. But what is his ruling in this world and the Hereafter? We say that in this world, he is judged by what he worships with and what he follows as a religion. If he follows Judaism, he is a Jew; or if he follows Christianity, he is a Christian; or if he follows Zoroastrianism, he is a Zoroastrian; or if he follows Communism, he is a Communist. This is in this world, meaning that we do not apply the rulings of Muslims to him in this state because he follows a religion other than Islam. As for the Hereafter, his matter is with Allah (Mighty and Majestic). The most correct opinion in this matter is that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, will test them with what He wills. So whoever among them obeys will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys will enter the Fire. If we repeat this issue: what is the ruling of one to whom the message did not reach in this world? His ruling is the ruling of what he follows as a religion, because we only have the apparent. As for the Hereafter, his matter is with Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Allah will establish a test for him on the Day of Resurrection with what He wills. So if he obeys, he enters Paradise, and if he disobeys, he enters the Fire. If someone asks, “Is there any obligation in the Hereafter? Do you not say that obligation ceases with death?” The answer is yes, there is obligation in the Hereafter. Allah the Exalted said[Al-Qalam 68:42] and their call to prostration is an obligation. Yes.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that it is befitting in speech to mention what is appropriate to the occasion and to omit what eloquence lies in omitting. The point is that here he restricted himself to mentioning the warning regarding the messengers, even though the state of the messengers (peace and blessings be upon them all) is both warning and good news. Allah the Exalted said[An-Nisa 4:165]
And among the benefits of the noble verse is the mercy of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, to the creation, in that He did not leave them to their minds in their worship of their Lord (Mighty and Majestic). What is the point? He sent messengers to them, not merely saying, “Bow, prostrate, worship your Lord, and do good.” No, rather He coupled His call with warning and good news so that that would be a motivator for them to perform the commands and avoid the prohibitions.
And among the benefits of His saying, the Exalted,[Yunus 10:73] is alerting the person of intellect to look at the consequences of the liars, and likewise the consequences of the criminals. For a person is commanded to look at the state of these and those. If he looks at the consequences of those who responded and finds that they are good consequences, he becomes like them. And if he looks at the consequences of the liars, he fears them and stays away from them. Therefore, He said, the Exalted, [Az-Zukhruf 43:25]
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that Allah does not punish for a sin except after the proof has been established, due to His saying so they were warned, and then the consequence followed.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is the indication that it is befitting for the observer to look at the manner of the punishment so that it is greater in his conception from one aspect, and so that he knows the wisdom of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) in the appropriateness of the punishment to the sin. He looks at these two matters to clarify this punishment and its severity, and to clarify its appropriateness to the sin. So look at how was the end of the warners.
And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
ولقد ضل قبلهم أكثر الأولينThat the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a prophet with a group of people, and a prophet with one or two men, and a prophet with no one with him.
أن الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم رأي النبي ومعه الرهط والنبي ومعه الرجل والرجلان والنبي وليس معه أحدAnd among its benefits is the consolation of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by mentioning the similarity of those who lied to him, for a person finds comfort and takes example from the misfortunes of others.

And indeed, We sent among them warners
ولقد أرسنا فيهم منذرينAnd there was no nation but that there had passed within it a warner.

The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able,
يوم يكشف عن ساق ويدعون إلى السجود فلا يستطيعونAnd among the benefits of the noble verse is that it is befitting in speech to mention what is appropriate to the occasion and to omit what eloquence lies in omitting. The point is that here he restricted himself to mentioning the warning regarding the messengers, even though the state of the messengers (peace and blessings be upon them all) is both warning and good news. Allah the Exalted said
[We sent] messengers as bringers of good tidings and warners so that mankind will have no argument against Allah after the messengers
رسلا مبشرين ومنذرين لئلا يكون للناس على الله حجة بعد الرسلAnd among the benefits of the noble verse is the mercy of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, to the creation, in that He did not leave them to their minds in their worship of their Lord (Mighty and Majestic). What is the point? He sent messengers to them, not merely saying, “Bow, prostrate, worship your Lord, and do good.” No, rather He coupled His call with warning and good news so that that would be a motivator for them to perform the commands and avoid the prohibitions.
And among the benefits of His saying, the Exalted,
Then see how was the end of those who were warned.
فانظر كيف كان عاقبة المنذرينthen see how was the end of the deniers.
فانظر كيف كان عاقبة المكذبينAnd among the benefits of the noble verse is that Allah does not punish for a sin except after the proof has been established, due to His saying
The end of the warners
