The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((That is because their messengers used to come to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Indeed, He is the All-Mighty, the Severe in Retribution)).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Among the benefits of this noble verse, which is the one that follows it, is the affirmation of causes and that a sinner does not bear the sin of another, derived from His saying:
That is because they ذلك بأنهم
to the end of it. We have previously explained this issue, namely the issue of causes and their effect, and the disagreement among people regarding it. We clarified that the most just and most correct opinion is that causes have a direct effect, but not an effect inherent in themselves, rather by the effective powers that Allah the Exalted has placed in them.
Among the benefits of this noble verse is the affirmation of the justice of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and that He does not punish anyone without a sin, as He said:
That was because their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs
[Ghafir 40:22]
.
Among the benefits of this noble verse is that there is no nation that has passed away except that His messengers came to them, as He said:
their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs
[Ghafir 40:22]
. In any case, this is the issue.
Every nation was sent a warner and a messenger who warned them and made things clear to them. And these nations acknowledged that. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said in Surat al-Mulk:
Every time a company is thrown into it
[Al-Mulk 67:8]
meaning in the Fire,
a company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them, "Did there not come to you a warner?" (9) They will say," Yes, a warner had come to us, but we denied and said, 'Allah has not sent down anything. You are not but in great error.'"
[Al-Mulk 67:8-9]
then they said:
If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze." (11) And they will admit their sin لو كنا نسمع أو نعقل ما كنا في أصحاب السعير فاعترفوا بذنبهم
[Al-Mulk 67:10-11]
And He, the Exalted, said:
And there was no nation but that there had passed within it a warner.
[Fatir 35:24]
This is part of the perfection of the mercy and wisdom of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in that He sent the messengers as bringers of good news and warners, so that people would have no excuse after the messengers, and for the benefit of creation. If Allah had not sent the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to us, would we know how to perform ablution? Would we know how to pray?
