The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (( ... Indeed, He is the Mighty, the Forgiving )) .

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Allah Mighty and Majestic said:
Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver. ألا هو العزيز الغفار
[Az-Zumar 39:5]
In this verse is an explanation of the importance of knowing the names and attributes of Allah, because of His saying:
Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver. ألا هو العزيز الغفار
[Az-Zumar 39:5]
, because
Indeedألا
here is for emphasis, and emphasis is not needed except for a matter of importance to which one should pay attention.
Among its benefits is the affirmation of these two names and what they indicate of an attribute and a ruling, namely
the Mightyالعزيز
and
al-Ghaffarالغفار
. The rule in the chapter of the principles of the fundamentals of creed is that every name among the names of Allah contains an attribute, and it may contain a ruling along with the attribute, which is called the effect if it is transitive. If it is not transitive, then it contains the name and the attribute. For example, al-Hayy (The Ever-Living) is one of the names of Allah, containing the attribute of life, but it does not extend to others, because al-Hayy is a necessary description, meaning it does not extend beyond the described. Al-Ghaffar is one of the names of Allah, containing the attribute of forgiveness, which is transitive to others, meaning that He forgives sins. So this is the rule regarding the names of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He: that every one of them contains an attribute, and it may contain the ruling resulting or originating from this attribute. When?
The student: When it is transitive.

The Shaykh : When it is transitive. But if it is necessary and does not extend beyond the described, then it has no ruling, meaning it has no ruling that extends to others. So in the verse is the affirmation of
the Mightyالعزيز
and
al-Ghaffarالغفار
among the names of Allah, the affirmation of what they indicate of an attribute, and the affirmation of forgiveness, which is the ruling from His saying:
al-Ghaffar الغَفَّار
.
