Machine translationRead the Arabic original
All right, yes, Allah Blessed and Exalted is He said:
Say, "Enjoy your disbelief قل تمتع بكفرك
[Az-Zumar 39:8]
We stopped at
to lead astrayيضل
?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : Allah the Exalted said:
to mislead [people] from His way
[Az-Zumar 39:8]
or
to mislead [people] from His way
[Az-Zumar 39:8]
His path
meaning his religion, meaning the path that leads to Him, the path of Allah that leads to Him. This is the path of Allah. The path is attributed to Allah sometimes, as in this verse and in many other verses, and it is attributed to the created being, as in His saying the Exalted:
Say: "This is my path; I invite to Allah"
So how do you reconcile between them? The reconciliation is that it is attributed to Allah on the basis that He is the one who established it and that it leads to Him, on the basis that Allah is the one who established it and that it leads to Him. And it is attributed to other than Allah, to the created being, on the basis that he is the one who walks it. So the path of Allah means that He is the one who legislated this path and established it for the servants, and it leads to Allah. The path of the Messenger
This is my path; I invite to Allah
means the path that I walk. And the same is said regarding the Sirat (straight path)
the Sirat of Allah صِرَاطُ الله
and
The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor
[Al-Fatihah 1:7]
. So the Sirat of Allah is on the basis that He is the one who established it and that it leads to Him, and the Sirat of those upon whom You have bestowed favor is on the basis that they are the ones who walk it.
