The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: ((Allah has sent down the best of speech, a Book...))

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
In this verse there are benefits: First, the affirmation that the Qur'an was sent down from Allah, as He said
Allah has sent down the best statement الله نزل أحسن الحديث
[Az-Zumar 39:23]
. Second, the affirmation of the exaltation of Allah. The proof is that if the Qur'an is His speech and the Qur'an is described as being sent down, this indicates that the One who spoke it is Exalted. The exaltation of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is divided into two categories: exaltation of His Essence and exaltation of His Attributes. As for the exaltation of the Attributes, there is agreement among the people of the Sunnah and the people of innovation. As for the exaltation of the Essence, there is disagreement regarding it. The people of the Sunnah believe that Allah the Exalted is above His creation with His Essence. The people of ta'til (denial of the divine attributes) deny this. Then they divided into two groups: one group said that He is with His Essence in every place, and is not above the heavens, but rather He is above the heavens, in the heavens, in the earth, in the houses, in the mosques, in the markets, and in everything, until some of them reached the point of saying that He is present even in bodies, even in humans, even in dogs, and even in donkeys, may Allah protect us from that. These are the Jahmiyyah who hold to the doctrine of incarnation (hulul), who opened the door to the union (ittihad). The second group said that Allah is not described with exaltation or descent; He is not above the universe, nor below it, nor connected to the universe, nor separate from the universe, nor inside the universe, nor outside the universe. This is pure ta'til, is it not? For this reason, some scholars said: if we were asked to describe non-existence, we would not find a description more precise than this: non-existence is everything that is not inside the universe, nor outside it, nor above, nor below, nor connected, nor separate. And for this reason, Mahmud ibn Asbagh al-Kin (may Allah have mercy on him) said to Ibn Furuk: "Show us your Lord, if you describe Him with this description, where is the Lord you worship?" And he was truthful. So the deniers of the exaltation of the Essence divided into...
