Is it permissible to combine the prayer in the school mosque, which is more than a kilometer away from the town mosque, and if the prayer is combined and some people arrive late, this

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it permissible to combine the prayer in the school mosque, which is more than a kilometer away, and if the prayer is combined and some people arrive late, this is, if Allah wills, a new question, the important thing is about...

The Shaykh : Do you mean is it permissible to establish the congregation, as it appears?

The questioner : No, he says is it permissible to combine the prayer?

The Shaykh : Combining the prayer, it appears that he means establishing the congregation.

The questioner : In the school, unless it is that, I mean that they want to make 'Asr with Zuhr, or?

The Shaykh : As evidence, he said and the mosque is close to it.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : It appears that his intention is to establish the congregation in the school.

The questioner : Okay, can we answer the question from both aspects, or.

The Shaykh : It is possible.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : We say that as for establishing the congregation in the school, this is permissible according to many scholars because the school is considered a single complete body, and the congregation there gathers them all, and no dispersion occurs, especially if the time for prayer enters during the lessons, for their dispersion and going out to other mosques would cause them to be scattered and not return quickly to their study seats.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And as for if the intention is to combine the prayer, meaning combining the two prayers in the time of one of them, as if they want to combine Zuhr and 'Asr together, or they want to combine Maghrib and 'Isha' together, then this is not permissible because they have no need for it as long as they are all equal, for they can pray each prayer in its time, and combining without an excuse is forbidden because it means taking the prayer out of its time, either by advancing it or delaying it.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : It is what made me believe that he wants combining and not establishing the congregation in the school, his saying "and if the prayer is combined and some people arrive late and their intention differs from the imam's intention, is their prayer valid? Then does the prayer of 'Asr, for example, drop from them if the prayer of Zuhr is combined with it?"

The Shaykh : Yes, this supports what I understood, but you did not read it...

The questioner : Yes, yes.

The Shaykh : If combining occurs and the latecomers arrive while they are in the second prayer, they enter with them with their intention, meaning the intention of the arriving present people. If the congregation is praying 'Isha', these people enter with them with the intention of Maghrib prayer. If they enter from the first rak'ah, then when the imam stands for the fourth, they intend to part from him and say the taslim for themselves, then they stand to enter with him in what remains of the 'Isha' prayer. And the same is said for the 'Asr prayer if these people arrive while they are in the 'Asr prayer and have not prayed Zuhr, then we say: enter with them with the intention of Zuhr and complete it with the intention of Zuhr.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And it does not harm the difference in intention between the imam and the ma'mum according to the stronger position, because the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
The Imam is (appointed) to be followed. So do not differ from him إنما جعل الإمام ليؤتم به فلا تختلفوا عليه
Sahih al-Bukhari 722
is explained by his saying:
say Takbir when he says it; bow when he bows فإذا كبر فكبروا، وإذا ركع فاركعوا
Sahih al-Bukhari 805
to the end of the hadith. So the meaning is do not differ from him in actions and following, and it is not intended that you do not differ from him in intention, otherwise he would have said "do not differ from him." So differing from a thing means opposing it in apparent actions.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : A message reached us from the brother in Allah, Muhammad al-'Abd al-Rahman al-Wabil al-Tuwijiri, from Buraydah, the street...
