I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed.
O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allah or [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them] or [violate the safety of] those coming to the Sacred House seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you come out of ihram, then [you may] hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
. I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allah
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
Is this the beginning of the discussion? The beginning of the surah? Yes. Allah the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:1]
We mentioned that if the address begins with "O you who believe", there are benefits in this. What are they? The first benefit is that what follows is a ruling or a report, indicating the importance of what follows. This is the case if the address begins with a call in general, even "O people," which indicates the importance of what follows. But if it begins specifically with "O you who believe"? It indicates that what follows is among the implications of faith, because if that were not the case, it would not be valid to direct the address to a believer.
