The benefits derived from the saying of Allah the Exalted: <<

The Shaykh: And in it is evidence for the permissibility of making a supplication conditional. What is it? “If he is among the liars,” and she says, “If he is among the truthful ones.” So in it is evidence for the permissibility of making a supplication conditional. And something similar or close to it came in the prayer for guidance (istikharah)
Narrated Jabir: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to teach us the Istikhara for each and every matter as he used to teach us the Suras from the Holy Qur'an. (He used to say), "If anyone of you intends to do something, he should offer a two-rak`at prayer other than the obligatory prayer, and then say: 'Allahumma inni astakhiruka bi'ilmika, wa astaqdiruka biqudratika, wa as'aluka min fadlika-l-'azim, fa innaka taqdiru wala aqdiru, wa ta'lamu wala a'lamu, wa anta'allamu-l-ghuyub. Allahumma in kunta ta'lamu anna hadha-lamra khairun li fi dini wa ma'ashi wa 'aqibati `Amri (or said, fi 'ajili `Amri wa ajilihi) fa-qdurhu li, Wa in kunta ta'lamu anna ha-dha-l-amra sharrun li fi dini wa ma'ashi wa 'aqibati `Amri (or said, fi ajili `Amri wa ajilihi) fasrifhu 'anni was-rifni 'anhu wa aqdur li alkhaira haithu kana, thumma Raddani bihi," Then he should mention his matter (need).
Sahih al-Bukhari 6382
. And just as the Shari'ah came as beneficial in supplication to the Creator, it also came as beneficial in the legislation of the Shari'ah, meaning in the legal rulings. For example, what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Dhab'ah bint al-Zubayr when she said, “O Messenger of Allah, I want to perform Hajj, but I find myself ill.” He said:
Perform Hajj, but stipulate that my place of standing is where I am detained, for you have upon your Lord what you have stipulated.
. And just as the condition is permissible in supplication for asking, the condition is also permissible in supplication of worship, as in the hadith of Dhab'ah bint al-Zubayr. And this testifies to the dream that you narrated to us, which was reported by the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. He said that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it was difficult for him regarding funerals that were brought to him, and it was difficult for him that they were Muslims. So he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) one night and asked him about several things, among which was the man who is brought to the imam to pray over him, while he is in doubt about his Islam. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
Use the condition, O Ahmad.
. What is the condition? For example, if he said, “O Allah, if he is a Muslim, then forgive him and have mercy on him,” because this is the reality, meaning a person is in doubt about the Islam of the funeral brought to him, so he says, “O Allah, if he is a believer, then forgive him and have mercy on him.” And this is permissible, and its proof is this verse and the hadith of istikharah. This is in supplication for asking. And in supplication of worship, what is the evidence? The hadith of Dhab'ah bint al-Zubayr.
And whatever condition you stipulate will be accepted by your Lord.
