The questioner : He says: I am a young man who prays and fasts and is obedient to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), but I work for one of the companies, and therefore I have to leave my house half an hour before the Fajr prayer. I arrive at work by car after the sun has risen, but I am confused about the Fajr prayer. Sometimes I pray it before I leave, and other times I pray it after I arrive at work. I do not know which is correct. Please guide us, and may Allah grant you success?

The Shaykh : Neither is correct. Your praying Fajr before you leave, when you leave half an hour before Fajr, is not correct because you prayed it before its time. And your praying it after you arrive at your workplace after the sun has risen is also not correct because you delayed it past its time. Therefore, it is obligatory for you to stop when the dawn appears and you are certain of it; you stop and pray the Fajr prayer, then you continue your journey. It is not permissible for you to do anything other than this. Yes.

The questioner : Thank you, may Allah reward you.
