The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: <<

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The one that follows it is
And Solomon inherited David. He said, "O people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty."
[Surat al-Naml: 16].
In this is evidence that Sulayman came after Dawud, based on His saying:
And Sulayman inherited
[Surat al-Naml: 16]. And inheritance, as we have said, is for a person to succeed another in something, whether it be knowledge or wealth.
In it is also evidence for the prescription of a person speaking about Allah’s blessing, based on His saying:
O people, we have been taught the language of birds
[Surat al-Naml: 16].
In it is also evidence that this speaking is not objectionable if it is done openly, intentionally, and comprehensively, because His saying:
O mankind!
is an address to those far away, so it is as if Sulayman announced it to all the people.
In this is evidence that birds speak, based on His saying:
the language of birds مَنطِقَ الطَّيْرِ
[Surat al-Naml: 16].
In it is also that their speech is understood and known, but it is known among themselves and unknown to others, except to whom Allah has taught it. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said:
And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting
[Surat al-Isra: 44].
In this verse is evidence that Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, gave Sulayman of every thing that completes kingship, based on His saying:
and we have been given from all things
[Surat al-Naml: 16]. This is similar to His saying, the Exalted, about the Queen of Saba:
and she has been given of all things
[Surat al-Naml: 23], meaning: of that which completes kingship. This is if we qualify that it is every thing that completes kingship, in which case "min" (from) indicates the genus. And if we say that
of all things مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
[Al-A'raf 7:145]
is general for every thing, then "min" indicates partiality, because they were not given every thing, but rather a part of every thing.
In it is evidence that what Allah the Exalted gives a servant of knowledge and understanding is from His grace, based on His saying:
Indeed, this is evident bounty."
[Surat al-Naml: 16]. And Allah the Exalted said:
Say, "In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy - in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate."
[Surat Yunus: 58].
Can it be inferred from this that one who knows the language of others has a distinction over others?
The student: Yes...

The Shaykh : A distinction over others, because he praised himself by saying:
we have been taught the language of birds
[Surat al-Naml: 16].
So learning a language other than Arabic is, in reality, a blessing from Allah upon the servant, but in what does he use it?
If he uses it in place of the Arabic language, he is in error, and 'Umar used to strike for that. And if he uses it for a religious benefit, then he has a reward for that. So if he uses it in calling to Allah and making the people who do not understand the Arabic language understand through this means, then it is a means.
The important thing is that there is no doubt that a person who learns the language of others has a distinction over others in this, but whether it is praiseworthy or not depends on what he achieves through it.
