The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: << And Pharaoh said, "O chiefs, I know not for you a god other than me."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
And Pharaoh said, "O eminent ones, I have not known you to have a god other than me. وقال فرعون يا أيها الملأ ما علمت لكم من إله غيري
[Al-Qasas 28:38]
to the end of it. It is derived from this verse that Pharaoh had dominated the hearts of his people. The indication of this is that such a statement is not accepted except from a person who has stripped them of their minds; otherwise, every one of them would say: "Shall I become a god..."
And among them is also [the fact that] Pharaoh [dominated] his people, and that he was among the most cunning and scheming of people, as indicated by his saying:
I know of no god for you but me
.
And among them is the affirmation of the Highness of Allah. From where is this taken? From His saying:
make for me a tower that I may look at the God of Moses
[Al-Qasas 28:38]
This is evidence that Moses said to him: "Indeed, Allah is in the sky." Good.
And among them is also that Pharaoh was great in his kingdom in his realm, and he had ministers whom he commanded.
And among them is attributing the action to the one who ordered it, if he has authority. As indicated by his saying:
construct for me a tower
[Ghafir 40:36]
It is known that Haman did not directly perform the building. Who performs it directly? The workers. But the action was attributed to him because he was the one who ordered it. So, attributing the action to the one who ordered it is for the one who has the authority to command. The jurists (may Allah have mercy on them) considered this and said: If one orders a non-accountable person to kill, and he kills, then the retaliation (qisas) is upon the one who ordered it. Because if he said to a person who has not reached puberty, "Kill so-and-so," and he went and killed him, then the one who is killed [in retaliation] is the one who ordered it, because he is the cause, and the cause... the ruling is attributed to it.
And among them is also, from the benefits of the verse, that pottery is stronger than clay that has not been fired. He said... the fired clay is stronger. From where is this understood?
ignite for me, O Haman, [a fire] upon the clay
[Al-Qasas 28:38]
And it is said regarding the first: If the bricks... Pharaoh, and Allah knows best, may have been the first to invent this clay, or the matter may have been known before, so he ordered it... that it is stronger than clay that has not been fired.
And among them is also the tyranny and arrogance of Pharaoh, where he mentioned the Lord (Glorified and Exalted is He) with the form... in his saying:
That I may look out upon the god of Moses
So he attributed it to Him in contempt for Him, because he despises Moses.
And among them is also that Pharaoh was among the most lying of people, as indicated by his saying:
I know of no god for you but me
and his saying:
And indeed, I do think he is among the liars." وإني لأظنه من الكاذبين
[Al-Qasas 28:38]

And among them... in his saying:
Among the liars
What is the indication of this?
The student: ...

The Shaykh : That is, perhaps he is surprised that Moses would lie, so he indicated by his saying:
Among the liars
From there, what is believed is that he [Moses] is truthful, so do not be surprised that he [Pharaoh] lies, just as others have lied. And in another verse:
but indeed, I think he is a liar.
[Ghafir 40:37]
So how are these reconciled? The reconciliation between them is that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) either transmitted the speech with its meaning and wording from Allah, or he speaks with this [wording] once... Pharaoh, and with this [wording] once. So in one gathering he says:
indeed, I think he is a liar
[Ghafir 40:37]
and in another he says:
And indeed, I do think he is among the liars." وإني لأظنه من الكاذبين
[Al-Qasas 28:38]
....
