The benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: << فإن لم يستجيبوا لك فاعلم أنما يتبعون أهوآءهم . . . . . . . >

Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Qasas 28:50] His saying: means, "If their response to you is absent." In this is the permissibility of conditioning something that is certain to occur with a condition... Did you understand this? Its meaning is: This is certain to occur. Does anyone think there is a possibility that they will respond? There is not... So we say: It is permissible to condition a certain thing with a condition, even if it is certain that it will not happen, and likewise if it is certain that it will happen. Here, the absence is certain to occur, and yet it was conditioned with a condition. And in the hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: Sunan Abi Dawud 3237Sahih (Al-Albani) He says this to the people of the graveyards, and it is known that this matter?
The student: Certain.
The Shaykh : Certain, yes. He said. And among its benefits is that these disbelievers in the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) have no proof other than following their desires, due to His saying:. Does this mean, "So do not argue with them," because the one who follows his desire is difficult and arrogant? The one who follows his desire is arrogant; you cannot convince him as long as he does not want the truth, but only wants to win for himself and follow his desire. So I believe that such a person cannot be argued with. If you argue with him, as long as he is a person of desire, there is no benefit. Do we say that it is derived from this verse that if one knows that the person being argued with wants to follow his desire, there is no benefit in arguing with him because it is a waste of time? Yes, we say: This is the case, because He said, "So know that they only follow their desires," meaning there is no benefit in arguing with them. If you have clarified the truth for the person and explained it with its textual, rational, and sensory evidence, according to the available evidence, but he insists on remaining as he was, know that he is following desire. The one who follows desire is difficult; he is not a person who seeks guidance, and he cannot benefit. Therefore, we say in this case that it is not obligatory for a person to argue with him, but rather he moves to something else, which is punishing him [Al-'Ankabut: 46]. The one who is stubborn is not the one who wants to follow the truth but it has not been made clear to him. The stubborn one has a state, and Allah the Exalted said: [Al-A'la 87:9] meaning, if it does not benefit, do not mention it. We have previously spoken about this: does this condition have a concept or not?
The student:.....
The Shaykh : No... As long as you are arguing. As for the people, the truth has become clear. What is the meaning of that he connected and spoke with falsehood? Because if you hear him speaking with falsehood, you must show the truth before this falsehood. But if you argued with him in front of the people and the truth became clear, and he has nothing, there is no benefit.
The student: ...
The Shaykh : ... For the general people, following the truth. What is its meaning that you... and speak with falsehood? Because if we hear him speaking with falsehood, the people must... with the truth... this falsehood. But if you argued with him in front of the people and the truth became clear, and he refused, you have nothing; there is no benefit in arguing with him.
The student: ...
The Shaykh : No, in any case, we do not say: Argue in front of the people. But sometimes, arguing in front of the people is... in a gathering, and the research begins and discussion takes place. Do we say: That you should remain silent and leave him? No, it is obligatory for you to resist with what you have. Yes, likewise, if you hear him, for example, speaking in a gathering and affirming falsehood, it is obligatory for you to speak with the truth. Yes, indeed.
And among the benefits of the verse is the difference of people in misguidance. They are not on the same level in misguidance, just as they are not on the same level in guidance, nor on the same level in error, nor on the same level in rightness. Is that not so? Are people on the same level in these matters? No. Therefore, He said:[Al-Qasas 28:50] In this is proof that people differ in misguidance. But... is anyone more misguided than the one who followed his desire without guidance from Allah?
And among the benefits of the verse is that desire may be in agreement with guidance. Where do we take this from?
The student: It is without guidance.
The Shaykh : It is good for his desire to be a follower of what the truth brought. This is good. And we mentioned to you a hadith narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Mishkat al-Masabih 167Isnād Da'īf (Zubair `Aliza'i) So the result is that the condemned desire is the one that is not on guidance.
Good. And among the benefits of the verse is that the wrongdoer may have exposed himself to being deprived of guidance, or if you wish, say: that wrongdoing is a cause for the wrongdoer being deprived of guidance, due to His saying:[Al-Ma'idah 5:51] So the wrongdoer is the one who deprived himself of guidance.
But if they do not respond to you - then know that they only follow their [own] desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allah? Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
فإن لم يستجيبوا لك فاعلم أنما يتبعون أهواءهم ومن أضل ممن اتبع هواه بغير هدى من الله إن الله لا يهدى القوم الظالمينIf they do not respond to you
فإن لم يستجيبوا لكIf they do not respond to you
إن لم يستجيبوا لكIf Allah wills we shall join you.
وإنا إن شاء الله بكم لاحقونThe student: Certain.
