Continuation of the explanation of the saying of Allah the Exalted: << So the response of his people was nothing but that they said, "Kill him or burn him." But Allah saved him from the fire. Indeed, in that are signs for a people

Allah the Exalted said: [Al-'Ankabut 29:24] We read this [Al-'Ankabut 29:24] Is this for choice, for doubt, or for variation? It is for variation; it is not for choice, because Allah said in Surat al-Anbiya: And for this, perhaps you will remember. The answer to the grammatical analysis of this sentence is that it is a predicate placed before the subject, which is and is the name of "kana" (was). We did not complete it, correct? So now we will explain it. Okay, we said: Here: for doubt is not possible, because the speech of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, does not contain doubt, due to the perfection of His knowledge, Glorified and Exalted is He. For choice is also contrary to the apparent meaning of the Qur'an in Surat al-Anbiya. For variation is correct, meaning that some of them said: "Burn him," and some of them said: "Kill him," and the opinion was for burning [Al-'Ankabut 29:24] So if someone asks: "Does not burning result in killing?" We say: Yes, but the intention is more for torture. So they, may Allah protect us from that, out of their hatred and the intensity of what was in their hearts toward Ibrahim, thought that he should be tortured by fire, peace and blessings be upon him [Al-'Ankabut 29:24] And Allah is Wise, Exalted and Majestic is He. Look, things proceed according to His will and His wisdom. Perhaps if they had killed him, this great verse would not have occurred, which is that the fire became coolness and peace for him. .. Mighty and Majestic, He is Wise. Allah the Exalted said: The verse contains an omission. The intended meaning is: "So they burned him, and Allah saved him," meaning He delivered him from them from the fire in which they threw him, by making it coolness and peace for him .
The student: ...... ?
The Shaykh : In fact .. but this was completed. The reality is that they gathered the wood and threw him into the fire, intending to burn him. Okay, we say: "And Allah saved him from the fire in which they threw him by making it coolness and peace for him" by His command, because Allah said: [Surat al-Anbiya: 69] So it became coolness and peace. The scholars said: If Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, had said only "coolness," it would have been ice upon him, but He said "and peace" so that he would be safe. And in it is the fact that cold kills just as heat kills, and if cold did not kill, there would be no need for the phrase "and peace." Yes, okay. meaning his salvation from it. " It is known that makes the subject accusative and the predicate nominative. Where is its name? And the "lam" is for emphasis, and how do we say it makes accusative and it is now broken? But it is " broken in both the accusative and the genitive cases ", okay. He said: is the plural of "ayah" (sign), and the signs here are cosmic, not legal? Cosmic, and He gathered them, so the author clarified the gathering, saying: " It is that they had no effect on him despite their greatness, their extinguishing, and the creation of a garden in their place in a short time " Thus the author clarified the signs, which are first: that they did not affect him despite their greatness, because they gathered a great amount of wood and kindled a great fire, until it was mentioned that they could not approach it, and that they threw him with a catapult, omitting the word "throwing from a distance." Yes, and Allah knows best. In any case, it was a great fire without doubt. "Extinguishing" means that it extinguished and calmed down from the flames in an instant. This is one of the signs of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. The third: that it was a garden, but it is sufficient that it was coolness and peace, that it was coolness and peace for Ibrahim. And I think the signs are more than what the author mentioned, because among the signs is the nullification of the plot of these people, and among them is the patience and endurance of Ibrahim, because the reality of the matter is that this is something that only the like of Ibrahim from the resolute prophets can withstand. And among them is also the transformation of this heat into coldness, and the transformation of it being a cause of destruction into it being peace for him. Yes.
The student: It did not extinguish, but it was coolness and peace for him ........... and they thought that he had perished?
The Shaykh : And Allah, Allah knows best. We do not know whether it extinguished or whether it remained, and the apparent view is also that it remained. The apparent view from the Qur'an is that it remained, because He said[Al-Anbya 21:69] So Allah the Exalted did not command it to extinguish, but He said: [Al-Anbya 21:69] And on this basis, there is a consideration in the author's statement, and the correct view is that it remained as it was, but it was coolness and peace for Ibrahim. Yes.
The student: ... more apparent in its miraculous nature?
The Shaykh : Its remaining is more apparent in the miraculous nature. Yes.
The student: .......?
The Shaykh : It has flames; whoever saw it saw it blazing. The sign remains in its state, there is nothing in it .... If there are reports, they may be Isra'iliyyat, but it is obligatory to take the apparent meaning of the Qur'an.
[Al-'Ankabut: 24] They believe in the oneness of Allah and His power, because they are the ones who benefit from them. "These signs were qualified by Allah as being for a people who believe, to avoid the people who do not believe. The people who do not believe, even though the signs are before them, do not benefit from them, so they are not signs for them. And for this, Allah the Exalted said: [Yunus 10:101] Do you know anything in speech greater as a sign than the speech of Allah? No, we do not know, and that is the reality. And yet, if the Qur'an is recited to one who is not a believer, he says: "The tales of the former people." As Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Qalam: 15] And therefore, if you find in yourself that you are not affected by the Qur'an, then suspect yourself, suspect it, because Allah the Exalted did not say about anyone who does not benefit from the Qur'an except the deniers who do not see in the Qur'an anything -meaning- that seizes their hearts and their souls. And this matter is one for which we ask Allah for salvation for us and for you, because many people read this Qur'an, but it does not shake their emotions, and this is very dangerous for a person. It is obligatory for a person to suspect himself in this matter so that he may correct what has deviated and straighten what is crooked. And on this basis, we say: The cosmic and legal signs are not benefited from except by the believer. The non-believer does not benefit, may Allah protect us, because they pass by him as if, if they are cosmic signs, they are an ordinary matter or according to nature. So the earthquakes that strike people, what do they say? They say these are ordinary volcanoes. Yes, it is nothing. And these great violent winds that destroy crops and trees, and also the flooding rains that occur, all of this they say are natural phenomena, as if they are not a punishment from Allah, Mighty and Majestic. So did they benefit from them or not? No. Even now, when people see an eclipse, they say: these are apparent causes. And we ask Allah for safety. They publish them before they occur so that they come to the people and they are reassured by them and they settle in their hearts, so they do not frighten them or make them afraid. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Mishkat al-Masabih 1484 And these people made it as if it were the new moon of a festival, until some of them addressed us with that, saying: "We inform the people so that they prepare." Yes, and they wait for it until the eclipse comes and they are ready, as if it is the new moon of a festival, wanting to go out so that they go out to the prayer ground. And this is wrong. I remember, and perhaps some of you who are older remember, when the eclipse used to come, what happened to people in terms of fear, agitation, and panic, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded: panic to the mosques and weeping. But now, may Allah grant us safety, as you see, some people may have an eclipse, they watch it, and they have a toy that sings and the like. So the important thing is that these signs are not benefited from except by the believer. Yes.
And the answer of Abraham's people was not but that they said, "Kill him or burn him,"
فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ قَالُوا اقْتُلُوهُ أَوْ حَرِّقُوهُnot but that they said, "Kill him or burn him,"
