Reading from the author's statement with commentary on it and collating the manuscripts: "So Malik's statement in this report - if it is established from him - its meaning is

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: "So Malik's statement in this report - if it is established from him - its meaning is: If you face him and send blessings upon him and greet him, and ask Allah for him the intercession".

The Shaykh : I have: So its meaning, established from him, so its meaning.
The reader: I have: In manuscript A: So its meaning.

The Shaykh : So its meaning, good.
The reader: "And ask Allah for him the intercession, he will intercede for you on the Day of Resurrection, for the nations on the Day of Resurrection seek intercession through his intercession, and a servant seeking intercession through him in this world is doing what will be the cause of his intercession for him on the Day of Resurrection, such as asking Allah for him the intercession and the like, and likewise what was transmitted from him in the narration of Ibn Wahb: When he greets the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)".

The Shaykh : So if it is asked, is it permissible to seek intercession through the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)?
The answer is: If it is by doing what results in the intercession, then it is permissible, and if it is by asking him for the intercession, then it is not permissible.
But would it be disbelief?
We say: It is not disbelief, because he did not call upon the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to do something as Allah does, but rather he asked the Messenger to intercede for him with Allah, so he did not place the Messenger in the position of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and in that case it would not be disbelief, but it would be a religious innovation without doubt and forbidden.
So if a question comes to you, does one seek intercession through the Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him)?
The student: There is a distinction.

The Shaykh : There is a distinction; if the meaning is that one seeks intercession through him by doing what is the cause of his intercession, then this is the truth, and if one asks him for the intercession, then this is not permissible, yes.
The reader: "And likewise what was transmitted from him in the narration of Ibn Wahb: When he greets the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and supplicates, he stands with his face toward the grave, not toward the qiblah, and he supplicates and greets, meaning his supplication for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions.
So this supplication is the prescribed one there, like the supplication when visiting the graves of the other believers, which is supplicating for them, for he is the most deserving of people to be sent blessings upon, greeted, and supplicated for - I sacrifice my father and mother for him - (peace and blessings be upon him). And with this, the statements of Malik agree"
.

The Shaykh : With this, and with this, a manuscript? And with this, write it as a manuscript, at least, and with this, the statements of Malik agree.
The reader: "And with this, the statements of Malik agree, and it distinguishes between the supplication he loved and the supplication he disliked and mentioned that it is a religious innovation".

The Shaykh : The one he loved is the supplication for the Messenger (may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him), peace be upon you O Messenger of Allah, may Allah send blessings and peace upon him, and likewise the supplication for his two companions.
And the one he disliked is that you supplicate for yourself at the grave; Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) disliked it, because designating a place for supplication without evidence, the least of its states is dislike. Yes.
