The questioner : He also says: If the pilgrim hastens from Mina on the second day of the days of Tashriq and descends to Mina to continue his work, meaning he goes to Makkah and returns to Mina, and descends to Mina to continue a work or an obligation, and the sun sets on him there, is it obligatory for him to stay the night or not?

The Shaykh : As long as he has hastened.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And he left Mina after stoning the pillars after the sun has passed its zenith.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : With the intention that he has completed his rites, his rites are complete. So if he returns to Mina after the afternoon prayer, for example, to continue his work, he is free to leave whenever he wishes, because he cut off the intention of worship and actually left Mina before the sun set. So if he returns, he is free; if he wishes, he stays, and if he wishes, he does not stay.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : But we advise this brother who will remain in Mina for work not to hasten, but rather to remain in Mina with the intention of the rites, so that the reward for that is recorded for him. For if he remains with the intention of the rites, he has the reward for that night and the reward for stoning the pillars on the thirteenth day.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes.
