The Shaykh : It is not obligatory. It is not obligatory. If you say "Yes," that is sufficient.

But who is better than Allah in judgement for a people who are certain [in faith]. ومن أحسن من الله حكما لقوم يوقنون
[Al-Ma'idah 5:50]
And we believe that Allah the Exalted loves His awliya (close friends of Allah) and they love Him.
Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you قل إن كنتم تحبون الله فاتبعوني يحببكم الله
[Ali 'Imran 3:31]
Allah will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him فسوف يأتي الله بقوم يحبهم و يحبونه
[Al-Ma'idah 5:54]
And Allah loves the steadfast. والله يحب الصابرين

and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. وأقسطوا إن الله يحب المقسطين
