The Shaykh : Among them is also: "Israfil, the one entrusted with blowing the Trumpet at the time of the stunning and the resurrection". Israfil (peace and blessings be upon him) is entrusted with blowing the Trumpet, and Allah the Exalted has assigned him to blow into it. The scholars described the Trumpet as a great horn, so wide that its breadth spans the distance between the heavens and the earth. He blows into it. Imagine, my brothers, that the one blowing is an angel, and the angel is powerful, and the horn is as wide as the heavens and the earth. How would its sound be? It would be intense. That is why people panic and are stunned, dying from the intensity of what they hear.
Then it will be blown again, and at once they will be standing, looking on. ثم ينفخ فيه أخرى فإذا هم قيام ينظرون
[Az-Zumar 39:68]
Good.
That is why he said "at the time of the stunning", which is the first, and "and the resurrection", which is the second. Therefore, the stronger position is that the blowing of the Trumpet is twice: the blowing of the stunning, which is the blowing of panic, but they panic first and then are stunned. And the second is the blowing of the resurrection.
