And we believe in the records of deeds, which are given in the right hand or from behind the back in the left hand

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :"We believe" likewise "in the records of deeds, which are given in the right hand or from behind the back in the left hand".
The records of deeds in which deeds are written; deeds are written, everything is written. Allah the Exalted said:
Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].
[Qaf 50:18]
And the wrongdoers said:
What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?" And they will find what they did present ما لهذا الكتاب لا يغادر صغيرة ولا كبيرة إلا أحصاها ووجدوا ما عملوا حاضرا
[Al-Kahf 18:49]
.
These books are spread out on the Day of Resurrection, opened for the person.
and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will encounter spread open.
[Al-Isra 17:13]
Everything is written in them. Allah the Exalted said:
Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].
[Qaf 50:18]
. And He the Exalted said:
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers are with them recording.
[Az-Zukhruf 43:80]
.
He says: "The records are given in the right hand". Allah the Exalted said:
So as for he who is given his record in his right hand
[Al-Haqqah 69:19]
And they are given from behind the back in the left hand. Allah the Exalted said:
But as for he who is given his record in his left hand
[Al-Haqqah 69:25]
But as for he who is given his record behind his back,
[Al-Inshiqaq 84:10]
.
We understand from the author's words that there is no contradiction between the mention of the left hand and behind the back, and that the person is given his book in the left hand, but his hand is turned so that it is behind his back. Just as he placed the Book of Allah behind his back in this world, Allah places the record of his deeds behind his back in the Hereafter as a disgrace and a shame. Allah the Exalted said:
(7) Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, (8) He will be judged with an easy account (9) And return to his people in happiness.
[Al-Inshiqaq 84:7-9]
. How is the easy reckoning? The easy reckoning is that Allah Mighty and Majestic is alone with His believing servant, with no one else present, and He confronts him with his sins, saying, "You did such and such, and you did such and such, and you did such and such," until he admits them. When he thinks he is ruined, Allah the Exalted says:
Indeed, I have concealed it from you in this world, and I am forgiving it for you today
Sahih Ibn Hibban 64:265
. If we were to think about the sins we commit without people seeing them, we would find them great and numerous, but by the covering of Allah Mighty and Majestic, His grace, and His generosity, He has covered them over us. On the Day of Resurrection, Allah confronts the servant with them, saying, "You did such and such, and you did such and such," and he admits them, and he cannot deny them. Then Allah the Exalted says to him, bestowing a favor upon him:
I concealed it from you in this world
This is a prior favor, and
and forgive them for you today
Sahih al-Bukhari 7514
This is a subsequent favor. Therefore He said:
He will be judged with an easy account
[Al-Inshiqaq 84:8]
. As for if a person is subjected to a detailed reckoning, if he is subjected to it, he will be destroyed, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Anybody whose account (record) is questioned will surely be punished.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6536
.
He says:
and he returns to his family in a state of joy
Where are his people? His people are in Paradise, because he has two groups of people in Paradise, and he returns rejoicing. The apparent meaning of the noble verse is that from the moment it is so, joy appears on him; perhaps the people are in distress and sorrow, but he is rejoicing.
It is known from this noble verse that the reckoning takes place after the person is given his book. This is the logical order: the person is given the statement of account, and then after he considers and reviews it, what happens? He is reckoned for it and questioned. So the bringing of the book is before the reckoning.
(10) But as for he who is given his record behind his back, (11) He will cry out for destruction
[Al-Inshiqaq 84:10-11]
Meaning he calls for destruction, and refuge is sought in Allah, "Woe to him, woe to his disgrace, woe to his shame," and the like.
and he will be made to drink of scalding water ويصلى سعيرا
.
He said:
And every person
A second verse:
(13) And [for] every person We have imposed his fate upon his neck, and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will encounter spread open. (14) [It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant."
[Al-Isra 17:13-14]
. Some of the Salaf said: "By Allah, He has been just with you in making you a reckoner over yourself". On the Day of Resurrection, his book is brought out spread out and open, and he is not burdened with opening it, and it is said to him:
[It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant."
[Al-Isra 17:14]
. This is the height of justice and fairness: that he himself reckons himself based on what? Based on what is in his book.
