A man asks: When he passes by a car accident, should he step forward to rescue the victims? And if there are women among them, is it permissible to carry these women in his car in the absence of a mahram (a relative one may not marry) for them, or what should he do? Perhaps if he leaves them, their pain will increase, and perhaps undesirable consequences will occur?

The questioner : A man asks: When he passes by a car accident, should he step forward to rescue the victims? And if there are women among them, is it permissible to carry these women in his car in the absence of a mahram (a relative one may not marry) for them, or what should he do? Perhaps if he leaves them, their pain will increase, and perhaps undesirable consequences will occur?

The Shaykh : We say: It is obligatory for a Muslim man, if he sees his Muslim brother in a situation where death is feared, to strive to rescue him by every means, even if he is fasting the obligatory fast of Ramadan.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And if something occurs where death is feared for his Muslim brother, and he is compelled to break his fast to rescue him, then he breaks his fast to rescue him. Accordingly, if you pass by a car accident and see people in a state where their destruction or the increase of their harm is feared, it is obligatory for you to rescue them to the best of your ability. In this situation, there is no harm in carrying the women, even if no mahram (a relative one may not marry) is with them, because this is a dire necessity.

The questioner : May Allah reward you.

The questioner : This is a questioner from al-Kharj who symbolized her name with the letters B, Sh, and 'A.
