about how to attain khushu' in prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This is an increase of the heart; this increase is of the heart. But deeds... deeds are like water for a tree. The more righteous deeds there are with the presence of the heart, the more faith increases, without doubt. For this reason, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing إنّ الصّلاة تنهى عن الفحشاء والمنكر
[Al-'Ankabut 29:45]
But it requires the presence of the heart. We ask Allah to help us and you with this. The problem with people now is that their hearts, when the time for prayer comes, do not be present except for whom Allah wills. But if you accustom yourself to the presence of the heart in prayer, you will find a direct effect.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Yes, we say this, but we do not want these superficial deeds to be mere movements. We want deeds that are connected to the heart before they appear on the outside. Is that clear?

The questioner : May Allah forgive you, O Shaykh. There is the story of Thumamah, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : May Allah send blessings and peace upon him.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : Did you understand anything?
