And from Abu al-Zubayr, he said: I asked Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about the price of a cat and a dog, and he said:

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :" And from Abu al-Zubayr, he said:
I asked Jabir (RA) about the payment for cats and dogs and he replied, "The Prophet (ﷺ) warned sternly against that." سألت جابرا رضي الله عنه عن ثمن السنور والكلب فقال: زجر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن ذلك
Bulugh al-Maram 7:10
It was narrated by Muslim and al-Nasa'i, and he added:
Except a hunting dog إلا كلب صيدٍ
"
.
Now, Abu al-Zubayr says: "I asked Jabir", and his asking Jabir negates what might be suspected of tadlis, because Abu al-Zubayr had a lot of tadlis. But it appears that everything he narrated from Jabir in Sahih Muslim or other authentic, relied-upon books is based on hearing. He said, I asked about the price of the sunnur. What is the sunnur?
The student: The cat.

The Shaykh : The sunnur is the cat, and it is well known. Is it a domesticated animal or a wild one?
The student: Domesticated.

The Shaykh : Some of it is domesticated and some is wild. Some is domesticated, meaning it comes to you, and you can hold it, and it sleeps with you and guards you from insects and other things. It also cleans the house of insects, mice, rats, geckos, and others, yes. And some is not domesticated, as is well known. Some of it knocks over pots and eats pigeons. In the past, it used to eat chickens with us, and I do not know about other countries. In the past, it used to eat chickens, but now it eats with the chickens, yes, and it does not care.
In any case, this sunnur—Jabir was asked about its price, and he said, he said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) reprimanded [us] for drinking while standing إنّ النّبي صلّى الله عليه وسلّم زجر عن ذلك
Riyad as-Salihin 770
And zajr is a strong prohibition. Now, the dog has also been discussed previously, and there is no need to repeat the discussion because it is clear. He says:
He forbade that زجر عن ذلك
meaning about the price of the sunnur and the dog. And from this, it is derived from this hadith
