What is the ruling on the passion that even some of the righteous fall into?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. This is an important issue, O Shaykh, that should be repeated and reiterated to the righteous, which is, O Shaykh, that some of the righteous fall into the issue of passion. Two young men are always sitting, going out, and allying with each other in seclusion, with no one else participating with them. If he sees him with another person, he finds something of hatred or aversion toward the second one in his heart. And this, O Shaykh, is a plague that befalls the righteous, and it is said, "Look at how the students of knowledge are in seclusion with him." The issue has befallen many young men, O Shaykh, and we teach them.

The Shaykh : By Allah, in any case, a person is a witness over himself, and it is not possible to make a general rule for this, such that you accuse every person who is in seclusion with his companion, considering it seclusion of passion, for example. It is not possible to take this as a general rule. But a person is a witness over himself; if he feels from himself that this love will turn into the love of passion, it is obligatory for him to save himself.

The questioner : You know by the signs, O Shaykh, by the frequency of their being together.

The Shaykh : It is not in any case, it is not in any case that it is the love of passion. Even if they always go together and come together, it is not proof. And it is not permissible for us to accuse a person merely on this basis until it becomes clear from the signs. And then we advise him before we accuse him, and we say: "Take care of yourself and avoid what is in danger and the like of that."

The questioner : What is the cure, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : The cure, as I told you, is to distance yourself, but do not transgress. Distance yourself, occupy yourself with others, and do not transgress against him.

The questioner : The Shaykh al-Islam says: Separate them, so that if they are in a town, he moves from that town.

The Shaykh : This is the one afflicted, this one afflicted with the passion for boys. As for the natural person, some people, meaning, if the most beautiful of people came to him, it would not concern him, as if he were the ugliest of people or as if he were one of his sons. Souls differ, but there is no doubt that Satan flows through the son of Adam as blood flows, and that they, as some of the Salaf said: "He is a greater trial than virgins". And he warns against looking at the sons of kings, because the sons of kings are always well-fed and luxurious, their clothes are beautiful and their faces are likewise always cleaned, so he fears from them.
