What should one do if his father orders him to stop keeping the company of the righteous?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
If my father prevents me from keeping the company of the righteous, and I feel that I cannot do without them in my religion, and that cutting ties with them is dangerous for me, is it permissible for me to disobey his order?

Answer:
Yes, yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
So if your father says to you: Do not keep the company of the righteous; do not obey him in that, but with kind words and a good manner... saying, "Oh my father, such and such," and "Oh my father, such and such." And if he does not permit it, there is no harm in keeping their company even if he does not know about it, and even if he does know, it does not harm. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
.
But with this, you must strive to be good in your companionship, and to speak kindly to your father with a good manner and gentleness. And if it is possible to do good while he does not know, so that the evil between you does not increase, that is good.
So the point is that you do not obey him in what contradicts the Shari'ah. And likewise, if he says to you: Do not pray in congregation, or if he wants you to marry a woman who is not suitable; you must marry one who has faith, even if you disobey him, but with a good manner, gentleness, and kind words; so that you combine both benefits.
