What is the ruling on one who is ordered by his parents to leave the company of the righteous?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
My father and some of our group prevent me from going out with the young men, even though they are good young men. So should I obey him or disobey him, especially since if he prevents me from going with them, my condition changes, and we return to corruption and sin? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
As for the one who orders you to leave the company of the righteous, you are not required to obey him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Obedience is in matters which are good and universally recognized.إنما الطاعة في المعروف
Sunan Abi Dawud 2625Sahih (Al-Albani)
. However, if the one giving the order is the father or the mother, you must use wisdom and kind speech, and you must not display disobedience. But you should keep the company of the righteous without their knowledge, and strive to keep the company of the righteous without their knowledge. If their knowledge would harm you or cause them to beat you or the like, do not inform them. But do not leave the company of the righteous, and seek out the righteous at every opportunity you can. And always beware of the company of the wicked, and never obey anyone in that matter, not a father, not a mother, nor anyone else. But with the parents, be polite in every way you can, even by concealing it from them at appropriate times, so that there is no misunderstanding between you and them, and so that you do not leave the company of the righteous. So fear Allah:
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way outوَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا
[Al-Talaq:2],
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ يُسْرًا
[Al-Talaq:4].
