Explanation of the Book: The Beginning of Revelation, Faith, and Knowledge-05a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Al-Hasan ibn al-Sabah narrated to us: I heard Ja'far ibn 'Unan narrate to us: Abu al-'Amis informed us: Qays ibn Muslim informed us: Tariq ibn Shihab informed us: 'Umar ibn al-Khattab: That a man from the Jews said to him: "O Commander of the Faithful, there is a verse in your book that you recite. If it had been revealed to us, the Jews, we would have taken that day as a festival." He said: "Which verse?" He said: "This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and chosen for you Islam as your religion." 'Umar said: "We know that day and the place where it was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He was standing at 'Arafah on a Friday.".

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest. In this verse, He says:
This day I have perfected for you your religion اليوم أكملت لكم دينكم
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
. From this, it is understood that before this day, the ordinances of the religion had not been perfected, but it was complete for those who practiced it at the time of its revelation, because nothing had been revealed to them other than that.
This also indicates that the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) Hajj was on the Day of 'Arafah, which was a Friday. It has become widespread among the common people that a Friday Hajj is equivalent to seventy Hajjs, and this is a common saying that has no basis. However, it is true that if Friday coincides with the Day of 'Arafah, it is more likely to be answered, because the time of Friday and the time of the Day of 'Arafah coincide in it, and both are likely to be answered.
